Electrical Design Manager

Summary of the Role

  • Responsible for the delivery of detailed electrical design work packages – on time, within budget, and of the required quality – contributing to the successful delivery of automation and control projects
  • Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Innovation

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, engage and coach a small team of Electrical Engineers and Hardware Design Engineers
  • Collaborate with the Business Development and Applications teams to develop robust estimation norms and provide pre-sale technical support
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure solid delivery plans are in place for all Electrical Engineering and Hardware Design work packages
  • Ensure efficient allocation and utilisation of Electrical Engineering and Hardware Design resources
  • Develop, maintain and improve Electrical Design processes and procedures and ensure their compliance
  • Develop and maintain supplier and sub-contractor relationships to ensure the availability of high-quality short-term / temporary resource to support peak demands
  • Create, maintain and improve internal standards, templates, libraries, methods and best-practices to ensure the highest possible efficiency
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing management and supervision to ensure processes, standards and methodologies are aligned between the two departments
  • Recruit, train and develop the best Electrical Engineering and Hardware Design Engineers to fulfil the growing demands of the business
  • Monitor the teams’ output in line with project requirements, and audit the quality of work being produced to ensure best-in-class and right-first-time
  • Provide technical direction, embrace innovation, and ensure compliance with customer specifications and legal regulations

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Required

  • Minimum of BEng in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years in a relevant technical delivery / management role
  • Subject Matter Expert in electrical control systems
