Replacement of Obsolete reliance DC drive system for a Double Backer

The Client had a requirement to replace an obsolete Reliance DC Drive panel at their plant. This DC Drive controls a 155KW DC motor for the Double Backer system on a Corrugated Paper line.

The Client wanted to retain and reuse the existing DC motor rated at 300A. The new panel had to fit into to the existing footprint of the old panel, reusing existing cables where possible.

The Double backer panel also had to interface to the main corrugator maintaining the current operator controls and updating the safety circuit to comply with latest standards.

Our Solution

iconsys designed, built, installed, and commissioned the new drive panel integrating into the main corrugator, meeting the client requirements.

iconsys upgraded the drives to Control Techniques MP350A4R 4 quadrant DC drive module. The safety circuit was also upgraded to comply with the latest standards
