Replacement of Obsolete drive system for a Single Facer

The client is a leading UK manufacturer of corrugated packaging and had a requirement to replace an ageing single facer panel, corrugator fluting and glue rolls that was running on obsolete Mitsubishi AC inverters.

The Client wanted to retain and reuse the existing AC motors. The new panel had to fit into to the existing footprint of the old panel, reusing existing cables where possible.

The new single facer also had to interface to the main corrugator maintaining the current operator controls and updating the safety circuit to comply with latest standards.

Our Solution

iconsys designed, built, installed and commissioned the new drive panel and integrated into the main corrugator, in line with the client requirements.

iconsys upgraded the drives to Nidec Control Techniques Unidrive M700 and M200 drive modules and fitted an Air/Air heat exchanger to improve environmental operating conditions for the AC inverters. The safety circuit was also upgraded to comply with the latest standards.
