School boy work experience

Iconsys were approached by Thomas Telford a local school, as one of their pupils had recently finished their GCSE’s and was interested in an engineering career and in particular the field of electrical engineering. Wanting to get a better understanding of what the job entailed, the type of work the engineers got involved with and ultimately whether it was a career he wanted to pursue.

Iconsys were only too happy to oblige and offered the school boy a two week work experience programme which commenced at the beginning of July. Initially he shadowed the engineers, getting a taste for the job, observing and learning about what the role entailed.

Working for a professional organisation such as Iconsys gave him an understanding of the working environment, it brought the job to life and gave him an opportunity to decide if electrical engineering was what he wanted to pursue.
