iconsys apprentice grows in stature and praised for his workmanship installing a copper busbar system…

Mat joined Iconsys in 2018, under our Mechanical Engineering Apprentice Scheme. He’s currently halfway through a four-year part-time Mechatronic Engineering course at Telford College.

“During my time at iconsys I have worked on a diverse range of projects. Recently I assisted on the manufacture of a seven bay cubicle suite, consisting of VSD drives, PLC Common Control Section and a main Incomer panel. This provided me with experience of installing equipment, working with the manufacturing team and design engineers to resolve technical issues, along with design and fabrication of panel shrouding. This presented with the opportunity to gain experience of using power tools to manufacture bespoke metalwork and busbar arrangements for installation within our solutions.”

“My next project involves site work, undertaking system maintenance and modifications within a fixed shutdown period. Whilst we have all faced unique challenges, I feel Iconsys is a proactive thinking company and has offered me with the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on skills that will prepare me for a future career and genuine progression opportunities”.
