Rail Straightener

A metal working company in Russia wanted to replace an old rail straightening machine with a new computer controlled machine to give increased capacity and improved specification for new higher grades of rail. The straightener consists of two machines in series, a nine roll horizontal straightener followed by an eight roll vertical straightener, making it the largest machine in the world. The system allows for rail data entry by the operator, with the PLC calculating positioning set-points and automatic control. The final recipes are stored in a database for future recall and use for repeat rails
