We specialise in DC Drives and AC Drive Systems

DC drives, because of their simplicity, ease of application, reliability and favourable cost have long been a backbone of industrial applications. The speed and torque can be varied and controlled with high accuracy to almost any useful form - for both DC motor and regeneration applications in either direction of rotation. DC drive systems are often applied where they momentarily deliver three or more times dc motor rated torque. DC drives feature a speed, which can be controlled smoothly down to zero, immediately followed by acceleration in the opposite direction - without power circuit switching. DC drives respond quickly to changes in control signals due to the DC motor's high ratio of torque to inertia. DC drives deliver higher performance and efficiency and are ideal for industrial automation processes such as tube mills, extruders, mixers, paper machines and various other controlled applications. Iconsys can provide DC Drives from different reputable manufacturers. Packages can vary from onsite retrofits to custom built multi-drive systems cabinets.

Iconsys use a variety of PLC control systems. We use PLC systems from the Siemens, Rockwell and ABB ranges, although we can also supply other makes if you have a preference. PLC systems have an important role as small, high-reliability and flexible brains, operating as digital computers used for industrial automation of electromechanical processes and operated by the instruction input from the input devices used to detect the operation condition of the equipment, and serve to control the driving loads, output devices. The transmission of output signals against input signals is determined by the contents of the PLC program to be provided to the PLC system. Their proven reliability in harsh environments, together with the facility for extensive input/output (I/O) arrangements, has made PLC systems the cornerstone in the majority of modern day industrial automation control systems.

SCADA systems.

SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) - computer system monitoring and controlling a process in real time. The process can be industrial, infrastructure or facility. The most common SCADA architecture we would provide is:

  1. HMI (Human-Machine Interface) - the apparatus which presents process data to an operator, and through this, the process is monitored and controlled.
  2. PLC Systems (Programmable Logic Controller) used as field devices gathering (acquiring) data on the process and sending commands (control) to the process.
  3. A SCADA supervisory station, single PC or servers and software responsible for communicating with the field equipment (RTUs, PLCs, etc), and then to the HMI software running on workstations.

Which Control System?

Selecting the right equipment is vital for industrial or infrastructure control systems. If you are unsure which type of control systems you need, look no further than Iconsys. With more than 20 years experience, our experts can help you to analyse your needs and controls systems requirements to determine if you would be better serviced with a DC drives, SCADA or PLC system. We are experts in designing, manufacturing and installing all types of control systems and therefore well qualified to provide the appropriate industrial automation system solution for your business.

Panel Manufacture

As part of a turnkey solution or a standalone service we manufacture panels, desks and switchboards at our well-equipped production facility based at Telford.

All work is undertaken to relevant standards and complies with the company's quality procedures, which are accredited to ISO9001:2008.

Energy Initiatives

Iconsys can offer solutions to help your organisation save thousands of pounds each year in energy bills and the associated taxes and levies on carbon emissions. With ever-increasing gas and electricity prices, a small reduction in energy consumption can result in significant cost savings.

Training

As part of a turnkey solution or a standalone server we offer application specific or general equipment training for operators and/or engineering staff for our control and drive systems.

Engineering

Whether as part of a turnkey project or a standalong service, Iconsys has the resource to deliver hardware design, software design, CAD, test, installation, commissioning, training and on site support.

Turnkey Solutions

Iconsys quality design, project management skills and manufacturing abilities are recognised and accepted by leading international companies in the UK and overseas.

We provide a complete turnkey capability from initial specification through to system commissioning.
